The Seven Years War
The Seven Years’ War was a battle between the European powers for continental power dominance, and for the control of oversea colonies. During most of the 1700’s, Austria, Prussia, Russia and France wanted to take over Europe. This took place after the War of the Austrian Succession, which ended in 1748. Wars were very expensive in time, money, weapons, lives and as well as the colony's resources. Fighting started in 1756 and it seemed as if the Austrians and French would win. Then, the British joined the Prussians under William Pitt (Pitt the Elder). Prussian victories in 1757 during the battles of Rossbach (against France), Leuthen (against Austria) and Zorndorf (against Russia) along with British victories against the French balanced the power.
The french played a pretty big role in the seven years war. They had rulers and citizens that had and made impact towards the war. They had a conflict between the British and the French for land and colonial regions involving fur trade control. In the war the french had defeated the British in several attacks and conquered some forts. They were allied by the Canadian militia and the Aboriginals. After these events the British turned the war around and conquered Louisbourg, Montreal, and Quebec City, from time to time. After the French and the British had signed a Treaty and made laws and fair agreements between them.
Before the war a conflict erupted in 1754 when George Washington had ambushed a small detachment. This was the moment for the war to come. From that time on the both had let out troops. The top priority for France was the war in Europe, they also considered to defend the colonies for the connections with the sugar and fur trades. On the other hand British army was determined to destroy and stomp on the French colonies. The French did well until 1757, when they were winning battles and received a lot of support from France. During this time, the French would have been more confident and powerful. Then, the war turned around and The British came into favor.
During the war both sides had allies and had different resources which they used. British sent troops to Prussia to defend them and the French were determined to fight in Europe to defend Austria. The war was not declared after the Washington conflict but the British were planning an assault against the French. In April 1756 the French had more troops and gained a new commander for the army, they declared war the next month which happened by the British. Thier strategy was to keep the British army aware and to be more defensive to keep them away from the Canadian settlements. After the attacks the Americans could not cope with them and the British were forced to send 20, 000 troops to the French colonies.
